FUNDRAISING
We’re always fundraising for a variety of projects that will give our visitors and other users new and enhanced facilities and experiences.
Our fundraising appeals range from creating educational resources for local schoolchildren through to our ambitious Redevelopment & Expansion Appeal that will completely transform the museum as we know it today.
We Need your Help!
As a registered charity, we don’t receive any central or local government funding. Some of the projects we undertake are generously funded by grants and trusts, such as the Arts Council and Heritage Lottery Fund.
But in most cases, we still need to raise at least some of the money ourselves.
This can be a big challenge - and that’s why we need your help! There are several ways you can support the museum by getting involved in our fundraising activities.
● Attending or taking part in fundraising events organised by the museum or the Friends.
● Organising your own fundraising event or activity for us, e.g. a coffee morning, dinner dance or corporate function.
● Taking on a fundraising challenge, e.g. a sponsored run, swim or even a Wing Walk!
● Volunteering to help us out at fundraising events, e.g. by selling refreshments or running the Tombola.
● Getting involved with fundraising activities ‘behind the scenes’, e.g. helping us produce grant applications and bids (training will be provided).

Tell us What You’re Up to
If you’re organising a fundraising event or taking on a challenge, please let us know.
We’ll be happy to help publicise your activities on our website and social media pages so you can raise as much money as possible. Please also send us a link to your fundraising web page if you have one.
Other ways to Support us
There are also other ways you can help the museum, such as making a donation. Please visit our How to Give page for details.

My sister and I loved this museum. Especially the guided tours explaining how the machines work and the working and living conditions of the frame knitters at the time. Even got the chance to take a look at Queen Victoria’s stockings in the former methodist church across the cottages. Excellent museum! Very entertaining and interesting
Terrific Museum
Second visit to this fascinating museum, a veritable storehouse of social history, staffed by knowledgeable, enthusiastic folk. Some steps may prove difficult for the elderly or infirm but there’s plenty to appreciate at ground level.
