TALKS & SPEAKERS
Click Here to Book your day
Our volunteers and trustees can provide entertaining and informative talks to local groups, clubs and societies.

Choose Your Topic
We have a variety of speakers with different areas of specialist expertise. Talk topics might include:
● The history of our museum site
● Our collections
● Textile history
● The decline and fall of framework knitting
● The Luddite uprising
Our speakers charge a small fee for giving a talk, which is almost always donated back to the museum. So booking a presentation is another great way you can support us!

Talks arranged by the Friends
The Friends of the Framework Knitters Museum arrange regular talks by guest speakers in the Chapel.
The topics are usually around the museum's own history, local history and related subjects such as the Nottingham lace industry.
Ticket prices vary but light refreshments are normally included. Other activities such as raffles sometimes take place to help raise funds for the museum.

Details of forthcoming talks are listed on the Events page and also on the museum's Facebook page. For more information about the Friends, please click here.

My sister and I loved this museum. Especially the guided tours explaining how the machines work and the working and living conditions of the frame knitters at the time. Even got the chance to take a look at Queen Victoria’s stockings in the former methodist church across the cottages. Excellent museum! Very entertaining and interesting! Lovely to see such a local and ordinary history preserved

Terrific Museum
Second visit to this fascinating museum, a veritable storehouse of social history, staffed by knowledgeable, enthusiastic folk. Some steps may prove difficult for the elderly or infirm but there’s plenty to appreciate at ground level.
