Christmas by Candlelight Success
(December 11, 2011)Cold and dry was the weather yesterday for the museum's Christmas event. Santa was in attendance and excited children visited by appointment. It was good not to have to queue outside in the bitter weather.
Morris dancers entertained in the street outside as did the Barrel Organs, playing festive music. Inside Chapel Hall was more festive music by singers and instrumentalists as visitors enjoyed refreshments and got warm again. Crumpets toasted at the open fire in the cottage were a welcome handwarmer, as were the hot roasted chestnuts.
Staff and volunteers entered into the spirit by donning period costumes, bringing the whole scene to life.
Our thanks go to everyone who worked so hard to make this event a success, and also to all the visitors who came to enjoy the experience.
